THE MARTIAN Staring Matt Damon Is Ridley Scott’s Next Awesome Sci-Fi Movie
This is our Favorite Trailer of the Week which reminds us of Jimmy Hendrix immortal words “There Must Be Some Kind Of Way Out Of Here”
All cards on the table, here, babies: after our first good, long look at Matt Damon and legendary ALIEN director Ridley Scott’s upcoming interstellar-survival thriller THE MARTIAN, we would be foolish not to expect ample helpings of “Science, physiology and space in general really don’t work that way.”
That being said? Hot damn, this looks promising. Think, APOLLO 13 meets CAST AWAY.
A few years removed from an impressive sci-fi genre debut in director Neil Blomkamp’s 2013 critical success ELYSIUM, Damon stars as presumed-stranded-and-dead astronaut Mark Watney, who suddenly finds himself the only human being on Mars after his crew abandons him and their mission to explore the red planet amid a massive storm. To the disbelief of his family, NASA and his former team 140 million miles away on Earth, he alerts them that he is not only still alive, but scraping together every ounce of his ingenuity and spirit to invent ways to subsist and stay alive.
Little does he realize, his crew and NASA are racing relentlessly against one another to launch their respective missions to bring him home alive.
Also starring the incredible blockbuster ensemble of Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover, THE MARTIAN hits theaters October 2.
