When we all saw R2-D2 flying in the Star Wars prequel movies for the first time, everyone in the theater gave a high pitched roar not unlike the beeeeeping of R2-D2 speak. What forever seemed like pure science fiction fantasy due to obvious aerodynamics of a flying soda can, who can only be described as an RC genius, Otto Dieffenback has broken the boundaries of the impossible by creating an actual flying R2-D2 unit.
Missing the obvious flames from the rockets in the real R2-D2 unit, this awesome design has a quadcopter inside what appears to be an extremely lightweight astromech droid. This was built for the San Diego Comic-con that is currently underway. He is the same guy who brought us the seemingly impossible Snoopy Flying RC Doghouse as well.
