Origami’s easy as pie, right? Who you kiddin’? The Japanese art of paper folding is anything but easy. Why don’t you try making a lily out of a piece of paper? Yeh, we didn’t think so. Lucky for those of you roaring river rapid junkies out there, a new company is combining the traditional art of origami with your next kayaking water adventure. The Kickstarter company Oru Kayak is in the process of starting their second line of foldable kayaks, called The Coast Kayak. These works of art can be constructed in around 10 minutes and just as easy to break down into easy storage for your closet, trunk or plane ride.
These kayaks are 16 feet long by 30 inches wide and are stunningly light at 31 pounds. There’s no telling what adventures will unfold when you come crashing down those rapids in your origami-inspired kayak.
