This Robot Has the Power to… Pick Up Anything!
We are not quite at the Ultron/Baymax stage with our robotics yet and instead we’re still celebrating when a machine manages to make it up the stairs. Another challenge that robotics needs to challenge meanwhile is the ability to ‘pick up things’. We make it look easy but actually it requires incredible dexterity and coordination.
The FlexShapeGripper from Festo though is a robot that gets around this by using a ‘mouth-like’ suction gripper that’s capable of lifting everything from cords, to mugs to ball-bearings. This is exciting stuff for factory robots in particular.
