Anyone who has ever seen the film jaws will have experienced that sense of dread while treading water in the sea. There’s something very terrifying about not being able to know precisely what’s under there and our imagination is terrifyingly good at filling in the blanks.

- These are the largest invertebrates on Earth and the largest ever found was 18 meters in length and weighed almost a ton! I think this one is related to squidworth.
- Don’t be too frightened of this shark if you happen to come across it. Its a filter feeding shark. So it just swims around letting stuff float into its mouth while it feeds. Its been known to grow as big as 41.50 ft. weigh more than 47,000 lb. Thats a lot of sushi.
- This is JAWS. While they don’t kill as many people as our fears let us believe they do, This little guy can reach lengths of 21 ft. and over 7,328 lb. Think you can outswim it? Think again. He coasts at a moderate 35 mph
- At 42 pounds, this is one big crab. One leg can probably feed 3 dinner services at red lobster. Just one leg can reach a massive 12 feet The body may grow to a 16 inches.
- Not had your fill of humongous octopi? Then how about this one that grows up to 30 feet and weighs 272Kg. It can eat sharks you know!
- While most start off really small and never get too big, these bony fish grow up to 36 feet. The one these guys in the picture are holding is only 23ft. Thats a lotta sushi.

- This is a prehistoric distant relative of the shrimp/crab that grows up to 30 inches and 1.7 kilograms. It also looks absurdly like something from Men In Black.
- This monster is the largest mollusks in the world and has been measured at 4 feet across and weigh over 500 pounds! Thats enough to swallow a small child.
- No, this is not Parick Star, but he is a big boy. Reaching at sizes up to 2 feet, they hang around eastern coast of North America from Southern California to British Columbia.
- The blue whale measures up to 30 meters and weighs 200 tons! If hes hungry, be careful because he can eat 40 million krill a day.
